Greetings! Things are going very well, thank you. We are celebrating 21 years in horror with a few some big announcements, including the launch of the Rue Morgue COFFIN BOX mystery subscription box, and our partnership with FRIGHTMARE IN THE FALLS horror expo presented by Rue Morgue in October. We also have another huge announcement in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
2.Explain how start this putrid magazine from horror,terror,gore called Rue Morgue? Hows been the begings?
I started it way back in 1997 when I realised that the horror genre had grown out of movies only and into a cultural experience – with music, fashion, games, toys and collectibles. So this was a brand new idea at the time that no magazine was covering and that is where I got the idea to start Rue Morgue.
3.Rue Morgue how many issues have till moment?
We are currently working on our 186th issue.

Everything that bleeds.

6.Rodrigo explain some more about the movement into horror,terror,gore from your city.There have festivals? fairs?
Toronto is a hot spot for horror culture and has many film festivals, like Toronto After Dark, events such as zombie walks and . Of course, Rue Morgue brought horror to this city in a big way with our monthly CineMacabre Movie Nights series since 2001, 11 years of our annual Festival of Fear horror expo and our annual Halloween parties.
7.Your top 5 from movies into horror,terror,gore?
That is always changing but today my top horror movies are:
Hereditary – a stunning debut and hardcore occult horror film by Ari Aster.
A Ghost Story – Strange and lyrical and profound.
The Legend of Boggy Creek – a movie that was made in another time
Eraserhead – pure beautiful terror
The Exorcist – a classic
8.Your top 5 from sountracks into horror,terror,gore?
Halloween by Carpenter and Howarth, The Shining by Wendy Carlos, Suspiria by Goblin, The Keep by Tangerine Dream and Day of the Dead by John Harrison.

2.Tell us how you start Champion Video? how were the beginnings?
It started out as a personal movie collection, and I was trying to figure out a cool way to display all of my tapes. So I decided to make the collection look like an old video store since I
3.Terrorific influences and motivations?
missed going to rent tapes like the Glory Days of Blockbuster and the mom-and-pop video stores. It started out where I was renting tapes to friends, and then eventually I made it open to the public by appointment only so people could relive the video store days like a time machine of sorts.
4.Your top 5 into terror,horror gore cinema.
I'm a sucker for any kind of horror comedies, so I would have to say Frankenhooker, Street Trash, Dead Alive, Videodrome, and Blood Feast.
5.Your top 5 into sci-fi cinema.
When it comes to you sci-fi, I love everything Godzilla and Kaiju monster related types of movies. Definitely a Star Wars fan, but I like the weird stuff like Super Inframan, Ultraman, Starcrash, and Robot Jox
6.Are you into extreme metal musick?
Oh hell yeah dude, heavy metal is my go-to along with punk rock music.
7.In your city have horror,terror gore festivals? explain some more.
We don't really have any horror movie related festivals, but I do screenings of horror movies on VHS about once a month at different places throughout Houston. Just to try and bring horror fans together and have something fun and free to do.
8.Morbid future plans?
Eventually I would like to open a brick-and-mortar rental store, that would be part Museum and part video rental where people can come in from all over and rent tapes. Right now I just threw them out of my house by appointment only but would love to have a physical storefront that's open 7 days a week where people can come rent movies out.

Vanessa: things are going well. As I write this I’m wrapping up editing all features for volume 6 of Evilspeak. I still have a feature of my own I’m working on and we’re still waiting on some art but once we have it all finished on our end we’ll be handing it over to Justin Stubbs who does our layout. Once it’s all in his hands it shouldn’t be but another couple of months before we have some news for an official release.
2.Give us a creepy tale from the existence from Evilspeak Magazine,hows been the putrid beginnings?
Vanessa: Back in 2012 I wanted to start a zine. The initial idea was to bring back Billy’s zine from the early ‘90s The Coven Zine, but we decided to start something of our own that we created together. Thus came Evilspeak. We chose that name because we loved it so much and wanted to use it and since we weren’t into the idea of starting yet another band, we decided it would be perfect for a horror zine. We started putting the first issue together and it all fell into place. I even landed interviews with Heather Langenkamp, Amanda Wyss, and Ulli Lommel to make the debut issue pretty special. After that we churned our the next few issues. We hit a lull in the past year but no setbacks will stop us. Besides, we just celebrated Evilspeak’s 5 year anniversary!
3.Till moment how many issues have Evilspeak Magazine?
Vanessa: we have 5 issues and a mini issue we dubbed 5.5 because it comes between issue 5 and 6. We wanted to have something ready for the convention we vend at called Cinema Wasteland and we knew issue 6 wouldn’t be ready so we tried something new with the mini issue. It has done really well so look for more in the future from us.
4.Morbid influences?
Vanessa: Horror movies, horror comics, ghost stories, horror novels...the list goes on, haha.
5.Vanessa apart from Evilspeak Magazine you run another proyect parallel? label? band?
Vanessa: Yes, Billy and I run Razorback Records though the label isn't very active right now. We're looking to begin new endeavors though.
As for bands, I stay busy for sure. My active bands are VAULTWRAITH, CAULDRON BURIAL, SURGIKILL, and I have something else in the works to be announced later this year.
6. Explain some more about the sick and killer scene into horror,gore,terror cinema from your city.
Are there producers? other magazines?
Vanessa: Where I currently live there's a healthy little scene thriving with independent horror films and horror fans. Volumes of Blood for example is a movie that was filmed around where I live and a friend of mine Alyssa Rhoads appears in it. No one really doing any zines that I know of.

9.Your favorite horror,gore,terror magazines?
Vanessa: I grew up on Fangoria, so that one for sure sticks out. I went on a back issue ordering/hunting spree in the late '90s and found so many gems for cheap! Lucky I found them at the times I did because it seemed after that the value went up on all of them. Rue Morgue was another one I loved back in the day, and hey, I've been featured in it for my music so it's even more close to my heart now.

11.Currently what are you listen? you listen movie soundtracks like the Creepshow 1?
Vanessa: Black metal and soundtracks are definitely on constant rotation over here. Lately the soundtracks for Ring of Darkness (aka Satan's Wife), Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals, Contamination, Rosemary's Baby, Buio Omega, and The Omen are being played a lot. Been playing the AGHAST "hexerei im zwielicht der finsternis" album. Nice creepy ambient stuff that's like a horror soundtrack.
12.Bloody future plans at Evilspeak Magazine?
Vanessa: We're wrapping up work on issue 6 and then looking to start on issue 7 immediately. I'm also doing my own zine book soon. Hopefully the first issue will be out later this year. I'll be making an official announcement soon so keep a lookout on my instagram and facebook.
